Currently captivated by Erich and Amy McVey’s home, which was featured on Design*Sponge. I love the vintage details (knick knacks, dressers and so much more), that fridge (so charming.. and what a great way to display photos) and that rustic headboard, perfect balcony seating and those bright pops of colour (that coral wall colour is to die for). So beautiful and inspiring!

Taking A Dip

It’s been pretty hot in Singapore recently, so I can’t help but wish we had a little pool in the backyard we could take a refreshing dip in. I’m kind of drawn to the smaller, deeper pools for the home – I love that they are space efficient and are just ideal for soaking (or for doing cannonballs) – I can save the real swimming for a public lap pool! A girl can dream, right?

Waterfall Bay House

I am in love with Waterfall Bay House by Bossley Architects - the stunning lake view, those large windows, the cottage-reminiscent wood everywhere, that glazed  bridge linking to the main bedroom, that tub, those “stilts”. The house feels so open and modern, yet so homely at the same time (I often find modern homes a little cold, maybe it’s all the angles and sharp lines). Also, cosy nights by that fireplace would be pretty darn spectacular, wouldn’t they?

I keep finding these beautiful and inspirational pictures of studios and home work spaces – they make me wish for a lovely, bright, dedicated space to work. I am in dire need of space these days and this work space nestled in one corner of our bedroom is starting to feel so… small. And cluttered. But I guess, for now, this is what I can manage. Though a girl can dream, right?

Summer Retreat

Right at this moment, I have a Canadian summer on my mind. In Singapore, it’s always hot and somehow, without the cold of winter, the warm days of summer can sometimes lose their magic. Thankfully, these two beautiful homes are reminding me of how fantastic summer can be… and I am now yearning for a summer retreat by the sea or the lake. This home by the sea looks so open and breezy, how lovely it would be to live in!

Also, Sandhill, this most lovely beach house on Nantucket. It’s a perfect mix of bright and classic, complete with beautiful dunes that lead to the sea:

Converted Sheds

Converted sheds: one, two, three, four.

I’ve been working on a few projects at home for a while now and sometimes, it’s really hard to be inspired or motivated to get to work when your bedroom is your office too. For some reason, my bed always looks so cosy and inviting (always!).  And there just isn’t enough space around here sometimes to get work done – I’m always moving things onto the floor because I never have desk space for everything. So I was scouring the web for home office solutions when I came across these converted sheds. It’s too bad for us we don’t have the yard space for this, but just imagine how perfect these converted sheds would be as a home office or studio space “away” from home… or even as just a backyard retreat when you need a moment to relax. How lovely that would be!

Orchid Farm

This weekend, after swimming, we made a quick pit stop at an orchid farm so the brother could pick up a couple of new pots and things. While he was browsing, we took a walk around the farm, marveled at the vibrant colours and the lush greens and smelled the orchids (some smell so nice, others smell like nothing and some others smell not so nice!). What a fitting way to spend time on a Sunday afternoon.

It’s true, good things come in small packages. This tiny house is amazing – that moss roof, that loft, the paneling in the kitchen, that library and that backyard. How lovely!

Kitchen Envy

Recently, I’ve been dreaming about a kitchen for our future house – a homely, eclectic, light-filled kitchen – with lots of cabinet space, colour, wooden countertops and a little fresh herb planter, please. A place for cooking escapades, evening family suppers, entertaining friends, baking adventures (maybe coupled with sneaky little fingers licking cookie dough!) and always, delicious smells wafting out of the oven. Wouldn’t it be lovely!
