I think stuffed vegetables (like tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers etc) are probably the fail safe hors d’oeuvres or appetizers. They’re somewhat easy in basic form (but can get really snazzy if you choose to snaz things up).
Stuffed jalapenos are awesome, they combine just the right amount of spice and pizzazz for a savoury little snacker. I stuffed these with a mixture of cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bread crumbs, garlic and cilantro. Then topped it off with the remaining bread crumbs for an extra bit of crisp crunch on the top. There’s so much else that can be done with these, you could wrap them in bacon, throw in some potatoes or chorizo or whatever you want really, you could bread them, fry them etcetc, the possibilities are endless. I’m actually pretty sure that whatever variation you take, they’ll most likely turn out delicious – delicious little things, I tell you.
