On one of the days at the cottage, we took a day trip with my family out to Huntsville. We walked around downtown, had a bite, ate too much ice cream, then decided to venture out to Arrowhead Provincial Park. At Arrowhead, we walked the Stubb’s Falls Trial – even ground, easy to walk (even the zumster did it!) and at the halfway point, you get to spend time at a little waterfall. If we had known, we would have totally brought our swimsuits for a dip!
After the walk, half of us headed back to the cottage while Steve, my brother, H and I took a drive out to Algonquin Provincial Park. We chose to walk the Whiskey Rapids Trail, which was a huge mistake! Not only were we swamped by mosquitoes, flies and other assorted insects, the trail was so boring. There was nothing rapid about the water at all – in fact, it was completely still. After that, we drove a little more into the park in search of some moose but alas, we were out of luck. So we started our drive back to the cottage and decided to stop for a pick-me-up at Kawartha Dairy Company along the road – ice cream milkshakes are the bomb.
