Here’s the last of our Bali snippets. We loved Sari Organik for lunch in Ubud. It’s a little off the beaten path but you get to take a nice, leisurely 10-15 minute slow walk down to the restaurants through the rice paddies (we even entertained the dreamy fantasy of what it might be like to pack everything up and rent out one of the beautiful houses they have along the way). The food is good, the produce is local, organic, fair trade and grown on the gardens that they have on site (you can even pick your own produce from the garden and have them make it for you) and bonus, they have a ton of vegan/vegetarian options AND the smoothies are downright delicious. Definitely worth a visit if you’re down in Ubud.

On our last day, we took a cycling tour through the rice fields. Now, I haven’t been cycling in a while (not since I flipped over my bike and nearly sustained a head injury in Ubin) so needless to say, I was a little nervous getting on a bicycle. But the ride was easy enough, most of the ride was downhill, with only a few uphill climbs (which also made me realize how bad I am at changing gears). We got to learn some neat cultural things about Bali and enjoy a breezy bike ride through the villages.

Our last dinner in Bali was at Il Giardino, a quaint little Italian restaurant tucked in a small street off Jalan Kajeng. It’s situated in the Han Snel gardens (by the gallery) and if you make a reservation, you can get a table right by the lotus pond. A word of warning, in rainy season, the mosquitoes are aplenty – but the staff offered us some bug spray and put a mosquito coil by us and we were all set for the rest of the night. The food we had was delicious, the boy had chicken thigh al forno and I had the spinach tagliatelle, both of which were splendid. We have also heard rave reviews about the pumpkin ravioli and the gnocchi, so be sure to try some when you get there!

And there you have it, hope you’ve enjoyed the little snippets of Bali… we certainly miss being there!
