The boy’s birthday was yesterday and we celebrated with a decadent 7-course meal at Dozo (more on that later). But prior to that, I made him a special pre-birthday treat a day to countdown to his actual birthday.
We started out with a brownie cupcake (that’s right – leftover batter from peanut butter brownie thumbprints!).
Followed by a stack of assorted pancakes the next morning.
The next night, a cup of chocolate mousse (Heston Blumenthal’s recipe, mind you!).
Then, a scrumptious plate of huevos rancheros for breakfast the next morning.
And finally, to top it all off, an epic chocolate cake – and by epic, I mean, a chocolate layer cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate icing. Yeah, you heard that right – that’s triple chocolate threat right there. Yums.
