We started the evening off with a simple Chinese tea ceremony for our Singaporean relatives who weren’t able to fly over to Canada. Then, a sit down dinner with some awesome courses. We love that the reception was intimate and  easy, people were walking around freely between and during courses, mingling and laughing with each other – that was totally the laid back atmosphere we were going for! We also left little packages for the kids, filled with disposable cameras, bubbles, balloons and other thingamajigs for them to have fun with.

A few more photos tomorrow! Also, reception details.

Between Christmas preparations, side projects and teaching, I am officially swamped this week… so I’ve prepared a few posts for your viewing pleasure while I go off to work on some other things! I realize that I never did post pictures from our little Singaporean reception in Singapore (just over a year ago now – how time flies!) so I thought it’d be nice to share some of our photos with you!

Starting off with a few small details at the wedding:Sheralyn&Steven_001 Sheralyn&Steven_005 Sheralyn&Steven_003Sheralyn&Steven_104 Sheralyn&Steven_100 Sheralyn&Steven_035 Sheralyn&Steven_010 Sheralyn&Steven_006

We had our reception at Rider’s Cafe, an intimate little cafe in an old colonial building (they had me at wood beam on the ceilings), surrounded by lush greenery and stables. We recycled a few things and ideas from our Canadian wedding, including thumbprint guestbook, straw flags and a photoline. We set the tables with glitter candleholders, fresh flowers arranged in glass jars (oh, those peonies!), chalkboard table numbers and little 3D crane place cards. And to top it all off, we made tape flags for the cupcakes and some tea favours for our guests.

More photos tomorrow!

DIY Hanging Ornament Advent Calendar

This year, our advent calendar is a little Christmas tree with DIY hanging ornaments that hold a bite-size portion of yummy treats. The boxes are wrapped and decorated with washi tape and outfitted with numbered stickers and a generous dusting of glitter. So pretty and sparkly! Also, perfect for people who live in smaller spaces – you can outfit with a strand of fairy lights and it’s both a Christmas tree and an advent calendar! Untitled

This weekend was jam packed with crafty activities and DIY madness. I baked some mean cupcakes for a girlfriend’s birthday and a ton of cookies for a little festive side project. We are now fully finished with holiday decorations and the house is sparkly and all lit up (the neighbours must think we are holiday crazy in here). Happy December, friends!

This weekend, I made a few festive coloured poms for the porch and started making paper snowflakes for a garland. Then, we spent sunday morning climbing (still sore!) and  I proceeded to have a baking disaster in the kitchen (so frustrating!) – slept it off and going to try it again. Wish me luck!
